Buyers' Guide

Tesla Model 3 buying guide

Why buy Tesla 3?

Tesla is constructing the most computationally powerful car. Introduced in 2019, it aimed to compete against more mainstream mid-size luxury sedans with astonishing value, stunning efficiency, and a surprisingly sporty driving experience even in eco mode. If you want more range than most electrics, decent acceleration or a less-glitzy interior, you have the Model 3.

Tesla 3 range and updates

Tesla sells two types of the Model 3, Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range. At full charge at base Rear-Wheel Drive the range will be (under the WLTP standard) 513 km, while the Long Range version achieves a stunning 629 km max.

As for the updates, big changes came with 2024 Model 3, such as an all-new interior with improved materials, new fabric highlights, and ambient lighting. A good starting point for these fixes is the large (15.4-inch-diagonal), central touchscreen area.

Tesla 3 tech and features

When it comes to technology, the Model 3 has it all, arguably making it the most advanced EV money can buy. A 15.4-inch-wide display, set into your sharp, minimalist cabin, lies at the center—it’s your control center for—nearly all peripheral aspects of the car, from navigation to media to climate controls, to driving modes. Over-the-air updates will continue to improve performance over time by adding new features and optimizations.

Standout features include Tesla’s Autopilot driver-assistance system, Tesla’s Vision camera-based safety system and Sentry Mode security monitoring. Dog Mode keeps the cabin at a friendly temperature when the owner walks away and gives a message on the screen to tell passersby the pet inside is safe. Camp Mode maintains climate and lighting, as well as the entertainment system, transforming the car into a comfortable sleeping space.

Owners have the ability to control climate, locks and charging remotely through the seamless integration with the Tesla mobile app. Performance continues to be strong, with the Rear-Wheel Drive version hitting 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and the Long Range variant hitting it in a mere 4.4 seconds. Along with high-tech innovation and practicality, the Model 3 features a royal 594-litre boot and an 88-litre front-hatch “frunk” to boot!

Tesla 3 running costs and value

Tesla Model 3 not only offers performance and technology but also low running costs. A fully-electric powertrain means that it can be cheaper to run over time than its petrol or diesel rivals, a figure further sweetened by the range from a full charge. Cost of charging determined on the prefer area (home charging or Monster/target and tesla supercharger stations ends up being advantageous) however, in general, the running costs for Model 3 owners over time are lower than those of a truck with an internal combustion engine. Tesla's Model 3 also has a 4-year/80,000 km warranty.

Overall

So, you have the perfect mix of go-faster tech and real-world ability: the Tesla Model 3 is a brilliant EV. With long-range, quick-acceleration and pretty much all the tech you could want, it slots right in between mid-size cars and even other EVs in a way that makes it direct competition. That is if you want a new eco-friendly car, the latest tech or just something to take out for a spin, the Tesla Model 3 checks all the boxes. It’s a nice option for anyone considering a transition to electric power, plenty powerful and stylish enough that you won’t feel too deprived of a ‘normal’ car.
